The event has been given the slogan, "We Are One." This seems only fitting due to the patriotism and devotion the famous, the infamous, and other hopeful onlookers will unquestionably feel for President Elect Barack Obama at this historical event.
The initial talent lineup includes Bono, Bruce Springstein, will.i.am, Herbie Hancock, John Mellencamp, Stevie Wonder, John Legend, as well as many others.
Historical passages will be read by Jamie Foxx, Martin Luther King III, Queen Latifah, and Denzel Washington.
In addition, the invocation speech will be given by Gene Robinson. Robinson is an openly gay Episcopal bishop, who has been an Obama supporter from the start.
The Presidential Inaugural Committee (PIC) states that," The Sunday afternoon performance will be grounded in history and brought to life with entertainment that relates to the themes that shaped Barack Obama and which will be the hallmarks of his administration."
This Inauguration for the 44th President will be the most inclusive ever. It will bring "we the people" together to welcome Obama with a new feeling of hope, ultimately making all onlookers proud to be an American, for the first time many can even remember.
this inagaural looks extremely eye catching and impressive. with the music popularity and the major and famous people attending, is sure to make an astounding impression on the people. which, if i'm not mistaken, was the main goal of Obama's "Yes we can" slogan, and message. i will not surprised if the inagauaral makes a huge impact on the people as a whole, and create a smooth paved road for Obama's presidency.
ReplyDeleteTalk about inclusive! With the impressive musical lineup slated for this inauguration, I'd say that the Obama team has every genre covered, from folk to rock. I mean, how can you lose, opening the show with Bono, only to segue to Bruce Springsteen, to be followed by the mellow jazz of Herbie Hancock and ending with the feel-good optimism of Stevie Wonder! But seriously, given the participants in this inauguration, the event is sure to be historic, not only for the racial diversity of those involved but for the effort to include so many different members of society.
ReplyDeleteWhat an extravaganza January 20th is going to be. The line up alone is awesome and can you imagine having that many famous people in one place.
ReplyDeleteHistory in the making for sure. Nerver before since the march on Washington has there been so many entertainers, sports figures, high profile individuals and people of all walks of life have gathered together to take part in this historical day. The city will be full of life and opening their doors to millions to wittnes the swearing in of the 44th President of the United States. Truely that will be a day to remember.

ReplyDeleteOne thing is for sure, America has made it clear that this event will definitely go down in history with the extensive and exlusion line up for President elect Obamas Inauguration. I have to say i'm excited for a new begining and a fresh start for America to stand together as one. Not only is Barack Obama making history as the first black president, he has also made it possible for all the people to view the entire length of the Nations mall along with local DC students having the opportunity to have front row tickets to witness history in the making pending an essay on how they can contribute to their neighborhood through community service. Obamas only request to the people is that we do our part. This nations 44th president seems determined to not only head our nation, but to also stand right beside us in giving every last effort to be the best, united, as one.
