I think that is sad that Palistine is not allowed to have their own state in Israel. Some times we as the US media blows this up out of proportion. One of the peole in the video said that in order for the fighting to stop, Palistine needs to become their own state in Israel. Israel is becoming greedy because they want to control everything within their own country inculding Palistine and the Gaza Strip. Just let them be their own people and stop this fighting. This affects Americans because we get our oil and some other things from the Middle East. If this fighting continues, we as oil consumers pay the price for it. However, good movie, and it puts a different perspective on the Middle East crisis.
Both the video and news article were especially hard to digest. I had forgotten just how graphic war coverage can be, but these two sources brought back memories of the Vietnam War. I recall the coverage as brutal and heartbreaking, so much so, that it spawned a lengthy protest movement that resulted in the eventual withdrawal of troops. Coverage of subsequent wars in the Middle East has been subdued, by comparison. I've realized for a long time that we get just a piece of the picture with our news networks, and the Arab-Israeli conflict has always had a particular slant. The documentary suggests that there is another side that we just don't see here. I have a friend in Norway who constantly rails against the United States' support of Israel, so the Europeans must see different images. I welcome a balanced picture, but I question if there is a way to portray it given access considerations and political alliances.
The topic itself is very touchy and definitly paints a defferent view from us Americans who have it all and take it for granted. The video and the article give a strong impression and a lasting one, in that. We never really realize exactly what is going on untill we sit down and watch, and meat the people being affected by it, and immediatly place ourselves in thier situations. Only then do we as a country and as a culture feel what they feel. They say that we dont see what they see, and that is completely true. We will never feel the way they do untill we are put in that axact position.I keep those people in my prayers, and i hope that every one for every religion will feel some kind of compassion and do the same, and keep the thoughts of those who are in that mess.
I thought that Israel was the holy land. How, could anyone treat someone like Isreal is treating the Palestinian's. The news only show you bits and pieces, but when I watched the video it was awful. The news don't show you how badly the people of the West Bank and Gaza Stripe are really suffering. It is sad that the Palestines don't have the resources to defend themselves against Isreal. Hopefully our government and other countries will band together and figure out a plan to get some kind of peace treaty, to stop the Isreal from harming the people of the West Bank and Gaza.
